Trevor Bayne to miss Nationwide race at Richmond

Daytona 500 winner Trevor Bayne will miss Friday night's Nationwide race at Richmond as he's undergoing tests for symptoms possibly related to the insect bite that he suffered earlier in April.

"Trevor was not feeling well early this week and he is currently being evaluated for lingering symptoms that may be related to his previous insect bite," Roush Fenway president Steve Newmark said in a statement. "Obviously Trevor wanted to be in Richmond and he's upset about not being able to compete. However, his health is our top priority and we insisted that he have these tests to get to the bottom of his symptoms."

Bayne suffered the bite on his elbow before the race weekend at Texas Motor Speedway and went to the emergency room after returning to Charlotte after the Cup race on April 9.

This doesn't impact Bayne's Sprint Cup schedule, as this weekend was to be the first that the Wood Brothers were scheduled to skip.

Bayne is currently fourth in the Nationwide Series points standings, four points behind teammate Ricky Stenhouse. An unnamed Roush driver will drive Bayne's No. 16 Friday night.
