Blog Post: Honoring teachers at Sundance

This week, the Bing team played host at Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. Celebrities, snow, parties, movie screenings, snow, Robert Redford, more snow. The ten day festival is the place to be seen for Hollywood movers and shakers - and Bing was there hosting celebrity interviews, a speaker series on decision making, and great parties at the Bing Bar.

But there was one event where agents, producers and paparazzi took a backseat to some very influential teachers. On Tuesday afternoon, the Creative Coalition held the 2011 Teachers Making a Difference Awards Luncheon, presented by Bing and held at the Bing Bar, with some famous actors in attendance. Actors Jeremy Piven, Cheryl Hines, Richard Schiff, and Adrian Grenier each brought along the teacher they felt had been the most influential in their lives. It was a touching event, with lots of laughs, and a few tears.

"I feel like I'm on Dr. Phil, and I'm about to cry like a grandmother," said Piven, who brought along his favorite teacher, Joyce Piven, who just happens to be his mom too.

Piven's co-star on Entourage, Adrian Grenier, also had some kind words to say about his high school drama teacher, Harry Shiffman. Grenier cited that the impact of Shiffman's teachings has lasted well into his adulthood.
