Dani Pedrosa may have a problem with his shoulder over the length of a 45 minute race, but it is not impeding the Repsol Honda rider from being fast. Pedrosa scorched to a lap of 1'38.865, three tenths under the race lap record, and about the same distance ahead of his teammate Casey Stoner. Marco Simoncelli completed a Honda clean sweep of the top three, the San Carlo Gresini rider a third of a second quicker than Yamaha's Jorge Lorenzo. Randy de Puniet was the best Ducati rider, with Valentino Rossi not far behind in 6th.
